As the days get shorter and the evenings begin to cool down, it’s time to bring back one of Jody’s favorite wine concepts:

Fireplace Wines.

Over the years, I’ve often referred to certain wines as my fireplace wines — those big, rich, round, beautifully concentrated bottles that are sometimes almost too much wine for dinner.

They’re not necessarily wines you want to drink an entire bottle of with a meal.

They’re the wines you want one beautiful glass of.

Picture a chilly October afternoon. You’ve been out walking the dogs or taking a long walk with someone you love. You get home around 3:00, light the fireplace or wood stove, settle into a comfortable chair, and realize it’s still too early for dinner.
